Guinea Fowl
Now available weekly hatches. Keets are sold as hatched, meaning not sexed and no colour choice! We have many new colours hatching and we strive to give everyone a rainbow selection of colours. For a greater colour selection we suggest purchasing 15 or more keets.
Guinea fowl have to be one of the most unique birds on the planet. This is the one kind of bird I told my husband, NEVER will we own guinea fowl. I remember when I was a kid going over to his parent's house and hearing these horrible screeching noises and hating these birds just because of all the racket they made. Well... I've been married now for 17 years and yes we have guinea fowl. Lots of them!
They do make a ruckus and the hens tend to sound like a squealing rusty barn door hinge and the males' alarm call is incredibly loud and frankly annoying. But I have to say that their call is so unique that I honestly have to say I would miss it if we didn't have these guys anymore.
We have several different colours of Guinea Fowl, Royal Purple, White, Pearl, Lavendar, Cobalt as well as Pearl-Pied and Lavendar-Pied.

Guinea Fowl are very social birds so it is usually a good idea to have more than one. They are excellent foragers and they keep our property insect free. No mosquitoes around here. They love to eat insects and on a warm summer evening they often can be seen jumping several feet into the air to snatch a fly or mosquito for a snack. They also like grain and we feed ours mainly corn and oats but one of their favorites is red milo.
Guinea Fowl originally come from Africa but despite of that they can handle our winters here in southern Ontario without a problem. They are very hardy birds and aren't prone to illnesses that affect chickens or turkeys.
